Strange Lights Live

Diva and Vincent
Our paints and photographs will be on exhibition at the Mayo Clinic complex in Rochester, Minnesota during the month of September 2010 as part of the Art and Ability exhibition. I was lucky enough to have my work used for the cover of the program and to win best in show.

Susan McKeown
Susan McKeown CD “Singing in the Dark” explores madness and creativity. The lyrics are from poets of the last thousand years who were writing through the lens of depression, mania or substance abuse.

Jill Sobule
Jill Sobule is the Strange Light Cafe’s favorite songwriter and was kind enough to write articles for my last blog. (My favorite is “October in Paris”: http://secrethistoryofsongs.blogspot.com/2010/03/october-in-paris-by-jill-sobul.html .) Her unique wit and candor about her craft is refreshing. I have collected the stories behind her songs at Song by Song by Jill: http://www.californiayearsguide.webs.com/

Do yourself a favor and catch Jill live when she comes to your area. She doesn’t charge Lady Gaga rates and has a better fashion sense.

An Introspective Mess
An amazing songwriter and artist from California who has written the best essays we will ever publish. I am constantly blown away by her honesty and emotional eloquence.

Amanda Palmer
Amanda is another favorite of the Strange Light Cafe. If you are in Boston in September or the beginning of October 2010 catch Amanda in the musical Cabaret. Don’t bring the kiddies; this is a very adult show. After that she will reform the Dresden Dolls and tour with them at the end of 2010 -- or until one member of the group kills the other. You may be lucky enough to see the murder in your very own home town.
